REFORGE LEVELED UNIQUES

INTRODUCTION

Some quests rewards are leveled uniques. That means that some unique items have different versions. The game gives you one of these versions depending on the level your character is. This can be a problem for your gameplay, since you will have to wait to be at a certain level to start certain quests if you want to obtain the best version of the reward, and that could block the natural flow of your gameplay. Also, when you obtain a version of a leveled unique, you are stuck with it forever, even if there are better versions of that item.

This mod offers a solution to that problem, even more, a lore-friendly solution. It allows you to obtain better versions of the leveled unique items when you advance to the levels on which you would had obtained a better version of the item. HOW IT WORKS?

QUICK LIST OF FEATURES

It allows to "reforge" the leveled unique items at any forge when you reach the appropriate level to obtain a better version of the item.

It covers all the leveled uniques in the game, including all DLCs.

Two different modes to better suit your type of gameplay.

It adds a book, "Deep Tempering Studies" that gives you some clues that may help you if you choose the realistic mode.

The "recipes" for reforging the leveled unique items won't be available in the forge menu until you read the book.

You can choose between the Easy/Test mode and the Realistic/Lore-Friendly mode when you first read the book.

You can change the mode by simply reading the book again.

ABOUT THE CONCEPT OF "REFORGING"

The concept of "reforging" is a concept I use for an "out of the lore" context. It helps me explain what the mod does and helps you understand how the mod works. It is useful for avoiding misunderstandings.

When in an "inside of the lore" context, I use the concept of "deep tempering" or "advanced tempering". It is exactly the same, with the benefit of keeping it lore-friendly.

LONG DESCRIPTION

When you first install this mod, you won't be able to "reforge" any leveled unique item. To change that, simply go to the smithing store "Warmaiden's", just at the entrance of Whiterun. There you will find a book named "Deep Tempering Studies". Read it and a message box will pop up asking you which mode you prefer. Click one of the modes for more details and choose one of them. You will always can change the mode.

Once you have chosen a mode, you will be able to reforge the leveled unique items at any forge. The base requirements for the "recipes" to be available in the forge menu are that you are at the appropriate level (it varies for each item) and that you have the item you want to reforge in the inventory. Further requirements depend on the mode you choose. Every item requires the lower item you want to improve and some materials that vary for each item.

Next you have a description of each mode:

EASY / TEST MODE

In the easy mode there are no additional requirements for reforging the leveled unique items. Also you will obtain a "cheat list", a note that indicates which are the items that can be reforged and the level required to do so.

REALISTIC / LORE-FRIENDLY MODE

In the realistic mode there is an additional requirement for reforging the leveled unique items, the "Arcane Blacksmith" perk. The "recipes" won't be visble in the forge menu unless you have this perk.



ABOUT THE BOOK

The book "Deep Tempering Studies" is the main component of Lore-Friendliness of the mod. It provides a backstory that justifies the possibilty of "reforging" or "deep tempering" and gives clues to the player that decides to play in Realistic Mode.

Also, you won't be able to reforge any leveled unique until you read this book for the first time. Then you will have the possibility of changing the mode at any time by simply reading the book again.

COMPATIBILITY

This mod shoud be compatible with anything but for two possible exceptions:

Mods that alter the cell "WhiterunWarmaidens" could (but not must) cause incompatibility problems.

Mods that alter the "Arcane Blacksmith" perk could be a problem.
